In the early stages of this Fire Marshal online training course, you’ll learn the fundamentals of fire safety, fire safety law, and what is expected of a fire marshal or fire warden.
Learning about the ‘Triangle of Fire’, fire classes and fire extinguishers will be followed by sections about how fires spread and how they can be prevented through successful health and safety practices.
You’ll begin to understand how to successfully conduct fire risk assessments and the key fire safety arrangements you can put in place to make you and your colleagues safer in your everyday work environment.
As well as the proactive duties of a fire marshal, such as alarm maintenance, managing flammables and developing personal emergency evacuation plans (PEEPs) for those who need them, you’ll also dig deep into your reactive duties.
These include the first steps you would take in the event of a fire or evacuation procedure, the leadership you will be expected to provide, and how best to manage and conduct fire drills.
The online training course also covers common health and safety signage, so that you as a Fire Marshal can understand and explain the important messages and instructions displayed around your workplace.
Finally, you’ll discover more information about when it is appropriate to tackle a live fire with fire extinguishers or fire blankets, and when it is safer to leave it to fully-equipped professional firefighting teams.
